Class Coming Soon!

I am Vanessa Kightlinger, I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT#31). I was trying to get started with my face to face Zentangle classes when the Virus hit, cause meeting in groups to not be possible. I am camera shy, so while other CZTs have been Zooming it up... I have been fretting over how to teach people about Zentangle and make a little money too.

So, I am in the process of creating my first full Zentangle class for download. It is the Basic Class that I would teach to a new group of tanglers. Anyone who can use a pencil could do this but young children (below 8) may get overwhelmed. Writing the steps in a guide took about 5 hours with photos and all. Then I had to make the videos of drawing the Zentangle tiles... I have done it a few times.... yes, I am my worst critic!  I am in the process of editing the videos, and I need to make the voice over portions also.  I hope to be finished by the end of the week!

You may wonder what Zentangle is and what it is good for.  Here is a brief description from the founders of Zentangle Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas...
The Zentangle Method allows creativity to flow in a relaxed and focused way that result in beautiful artwork and wonderful feelings" (Zentangle Primer, Vol. 1, pg. xvi)
Some of the benefits are confidence, mindfulness, inspiration, and relaxation. You can do it almost any place at any time.... waiting at the doctor's office, sitting on a beach, enjoying a quite morning with a cup of coffee, or many many more.

I am calling this "Zen with Friends" because I would like to have classes in homes or other places at some point. Like a get together of friends with snacks and drinks sitting around a table, creating art together, intensifying the bonds of friendship or building new ones.

I have friends in my walk of life that have a problem with the word Zen... I want to describe what it means to me and this project.  Zen to me is mindful thought and meditation. You can meditate many ways, I choose to focus, pray, read the Bible, and draw. I will focus my practice of Zentangle around God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, as I use verses from the Bible to describe gratitude, thankfulness, or appreciation which are steps in the Zentangle Method.

I hope you will join me as I start this endeavor.  I look forward to making some new friends and with "old" friends along the way.

Thanks for visiting and reading this post.... be watching for new posts. God Bless you all!
